Please remember to bring the following:
Passport and Visa: Make sure your passport is valid for the whole time you are here.
Suitable clothing: Wellington has a temperate climate with a good dose of wind. The temperature in Wellington will rarely rise above 25°C (77°F), or drop below 6°C (43°F). Wellington is however known for its southerly winds in winter, which makes the temperature feel much colder. You will need a warm windproof jacket and a raincoat.
Other clothing you might want to bring:
Swimsuit (we have 7 beaches and 2 swimming pools just in Porirua!) and
Walking shoes.
Our uniform shoes are Plain black leather-look lace up shoes or black sandals with back strap (Roman Sandals).
Sports/Club/Musical Gear: If you are wanting to continue to play a sport, join an activity such as Scouts or join the band, please bring your gear with you (uniform, shinpads, cleats, ballet shoes, trumpet etc)
Outdoor Gear: If you plan to take Outdoor Education or join Duke of Edinburgh, it is helpful for you to bring your outdoor gear (Hiking pack, boots, thermals etc)
Digital/Film Camera- Phones are banned in school in New Zealand, if you would like photos at school or on school camps and trips then you need a separate camera.
If your host family is picking you up from the airport::
When you arrive at Wellington airport you will be met by someone from your host family or a member of the Aotea College International Department.
If you cannot find them, go downstairs and collect your baggage, they may just be running a little late.
PLEASE DO NOT LEAVE THE AIRPORT. Our emergency number is 027 555 8605
Students should bring personal spending money to cover items such as identity cards, sports and co-curricular fees, school magazines, ball tickets and trips etc.
We suggest at least $250 for one term or $600 for a full year
