Performing Arts
The Performing Arts at Aotea College offers a range of opportunities for all students. From Music, Dance, Drama and Performing Arts Courses you are sure to find a fit for your strengths. These core classes are held four times a week and work towards developing skills in theoretical, contextual and performance skills.
Students also have an instrumental lesson once a week with one of our instrumental specialists.
Instrumental lessons include guitar, piano/keyboard, voice and brass / woodwind instruments.
There are plenty of opportunities for students to perform within and outside school during the year.
Co-curricular activities in the Performing Arts include Barbershop Chorus & Quartets, Jazz Band, Kapa Haka, Polyfest, Smokefree Rockquest & Tangata Beats and Sheilah Winn Shakespeare Festival.
These activities are held either during interval and lunch time at school or outside of school hours.
We encourage all students to take part in at least one co-curricular activity as it is a great way to get involved and build relationships with like minded people.
Each year there are Regional competitions and events in all of the above activities which provides students with a cultural feast of New Zealand culture
